Horvaatias / In Croatia

Horvaatia on põnev maa.

Taandusin ettevaatlikult minema. Kõrvetava päikese käes oli faasan miraažina haihtunud.

Väga palju nägin hiireviusid, musträstaid, koldvinte.

Plitvička Jezeras tervitas mind vana tuttav vesipapp.

***

Croatia is very interesting country. Variety in nature, in culture and architecture is big. I didn't go to a bird trip, just a regular adventure, but I picked up every bird who was willing enough to pose for my camera.

3 days in Zagreb, 3 days in Istria and 2 days in Plitvička Jezera + 1 day driving to airport. Lots of driving.

I saw some interesting birds, many of them were known to me, some of them were subspieces of the known ones.

First encounter out of town was a pheasant. He was doing its pheasanty things on some field and I decided to get closer. It was a very hot day and Sun was burning high. Suddenly I heard a loud hssss... and it came behind me?! I froze for a moment and then turned myself around very slowly and saw black snake vanishing in the bushes. It was big as my arm. Luckily it was the end of the snake, not beginning. I lost my pheasant appetite and retreated. The pheasant was also gone like a mirage.

On the road I saw lots of buzzards, blackbirds and European serins. And a lot more of course. In Plitvička Jezera I met my old acquaintance - the dipper.
